I am currently sitting in the living room watching the Longhorns' game with Lee and had an epiphany. I'm actually half watching the game since the score is 24-6 and the other half of me is blog-browsing. I caught myself thinking "Why isn't anyone updating their blog? Don't they know I want to be filled in on what is going on with their life?" Selfish, I know, but it is true. I am such a hypocrite! I haven't updated our blog since last month, and it was a sad excuse for an update.
Lee and I have been exceptionally busy over the past few months. Lee has taken on additional responsibilities at work and may even have his own store soon! He interviews next week or maybe the week after Thanksgiving so we're excited about that possibility. Lee has also been very handy lately. He's got my old Mercedes detailed out and purring like a kitten (it was fine before but needed an oil change, good wash, and vacuum). Anyone want to buy a '95 Mercedes?! He's been up to all sorts of man-work {his term, not mine} lately.
I am very busy with school, but it is going well. I earned an "A" in my Anatomy and Physiology I class, and am on pace to do the same in A&P II. Microbiology is exceptionally difficult, but I am working hard and am teetering on the border of an "A" and hope that I did good enough on my exam today to make it more solid. I also took a Philosophy course this semester and need to finish a final paper to officially earn an "A." It is amazing what a few years and maturity can do for your GPA.
We even worked in a concert in the last couple of months. We saw Fall Out Boy, All American Rejects, and Blink 182!!! It was {insert really exciting word here and I can't think of one to do it justice}!!! The pictures are below.
We're planning on heading to Houston Tuesday morning around 3am. We need to be at the Medical Center by 9am so we figure we'll give ourselves a little extra time for traffic. Any of you Houstonites want to do lunch????? That afternoon we're headed to Victoria where I {might} get my top two wisdom teeth taken out. They've both come in, and they're not really giving me any problems, but my teeth are starting to shift and they're really far back there so I'd rather get them taken out before they become a problem. My poor Dad doesn't really want to do it; he won't say that, but I know he doesn't. Actually, he probably just doesn't want me to bite {I tend to do that when experiencing even the slightest discomfort}!
We're really excited about Thanksgiving. We'll get to spend time with both of our families and some friends! It will also be a little bittersweet for everyone because Adam heads back to Japan and Shelley will move there as soon as she finishes graduate school {which will be before Christmas}. I don't really want her to go but I know it will be an amazing experience and opportunity for her. We've never spent a holiday apart. For the majority of life, I've never lived more than a few doors down from her. She's my Irish twin {we were born less than 10 months apart and are the same age for 2 months every year}. She came to college 4 months after I did and we lived in the same dorm. She moved to Dallas a year after I did and even lived with me for a few months before getting her teaching position. I cried when she moved to California for graduate school and that is only a 3 hour flight! I cannot imagine wanting to see my sister and having to take a 17 hour flight, go through customs, and then take a train ride to get to her home. Quite a lot can happen in 3 years and to be honest, I've been in a little bit of denial about her leaving.
All that said, Lee and I booked tickets to Japan {Narita} in March for 2 weeks. Shelley is planning like crazy and I'll be her first official visitor. I'm very excited to visit Japan and even more excited to be able to share the experience with Lee, Shelley, and Adam. Enough of that....I'm ridiculous when I think about it and started crying at work when I got a DING! fare from DFW to San Diego and realized she'd be in Japan by then. UGH!
Well, if we don't post before Thanksgiving, I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. I know we have quite a lot to be thankful for this year and hope everyone else enjoys the same luxury.
