About Me

My photo
We got married in February 2008 and decided to start a blog for fun. Lee works for Enterprise. He would like everyone to know that he is tall, dark, and handsome. He plays the guitar and enjoys living life to the fullest. Haley is an RN in Fort Worth. She enjoys playing the piano, going to movies, and spending time with family. We hope you enjoy our family blog!

Check #2

Poundage: +2 {what the heck?!? muscle? please? ugh.}
Mileage: 6 {I'm going to double that this week since I'm over being ridiculously sore}
Jeans: getting closer to going over my rear

Lee and I bought drapes today @ Pottery Barn because they were on sale. We'll be returning them tomorrow. Lee put it best when he said "they look like a kid in high-waters...as in jeans too short for them."

I'll post a picture later so you can laugh too. I didn't laugh at first {in fact I was pretty frustrated}, but now I can't walk in my room without belly laughing!

I'm hoping your week is AMAZING!

Diet Mountain Dew

I had a Diet Mountain Dew today : (

I won't call it falling off the wagon, but it won't become a habit. I actually HATE diet drinks, but NEEDED caffeine after not being able to sleep well since Saturday, sleeping in a hotel room last night {meaning I woke up 20 times having weirdo dreams} and needing to be awake and alert for training today.

I learned all about long term care insurance....I can officially say I know more about long term care insurance than anyone reading my blog--any questions?? : )

Hope your day is going great!

Accurate Perception Check #1

Poundage: -4
Miles: 6 (in the last 3 days)
Jeans: I wouldn't even show Lee - that awful

I've set a new goal: 500 miles in 2010.  That means I've got 494 to go!

How many miles before you change out your shoes?  My right foot went tingly-numb (yes, that is a word) around 2.5 miles tonight and I'm thinking shoes??  Any recommendations?

Today was a GREAT day!

I've got to keep this short because supper is calling, but Lee started his position at his new store and absolutely LOVES it.  He came home so invigorated and excited about life; it makes me very happy that he is enjoying his new position.

I'm headed to Brentwood/Nashville, TN Wednesday - Friday so it may be a few days before my next post!  Have a wonderful evening!!!

Best and Worst

The first pic is at my worst in 2009.  I seriously look a little bit pregnant.  This was 02.14.09 and I felt awful, changed outfits more than 3 times, and didn't ever really like how I looked or felt.

The second one was at my best in 2009.  I had lost 27 lbs by mid-June and actually felt good in my clothes.  I wanted to keep it up, but as you all know I completed 27 hours of courses from July - December and fell off the work-out bandwagon.  Check out my legs--um running really does a number on them!

I got some very upsetting news today, but instead of getting a coke, I'm going to take a walk later to cope.  It was hard when I first stopped drinking cokes, especially if I had a stressful day at work.  2pm would hit and I was just craving them.  That is absolutely nothing compared to how I feel today.  I REALLY want a cherry coke from Sonic, but I'm going to walk until it goes away.  I'm really trying to replace coke with activity when it comes to stress.

Today I am thankful for my family.  I am especially thankful for my sisters who I could never live without.  They are without a doubt one of the biggest blessings in my life.  They know me better than almost anyone else and we share a very special bond.  I love both of you very much!

Healthy, Happy, {half of a} Haley {and Lee}!

One of my goals this year is to become a healthy, happy, half of a Haley. What is this goal you might ask? Well, I not only want to be healthy {my doctor told me I have the blood work of a 16 year old}, but want to look it too. I want to walk into a store and not worry about what sizes are available. I want to be happy with the way I look and feel. You have no idea how many times I've teared up in a dressing room because I'm frustrated that something doesn't fit when I know it should.

The funny thing is that I really and truly wake up every morning and think "dang, I look good!" No kidding. I really am being honest. I might have the highest self-esteem of anyone you know {which is good since I stand up in front of large audiences giving 4 hour trainig seminars}. I'm blissfully ignorant of the real world until it slaps me right in the face with pants that won't button, a blouse that is too tense, or a picture of myself with someone else. I really don't have a very good perception of my size or what I look like until I see a picture of myself with someone that I think is about my size. Very inaccurate perception indeed. One of my friends hit the nail on the head when she told me I lived in a land of fluffy clouds and puppy dogs. At the time she was talking about the fact that I think everyone in the world is good {or has some good qualities} but it really carries over into my life.

I lost 27 pounds in mid-2009 only to gain 22 of them back when I started school full-time along with 40+ hours a week at work. It isn't an excuse; it was a necessity. I NEEDED caffeine and fast food {okay maybe I didn't NEED them, but it was easier}. So, here's what I'm doing to reach my goal:
  • Drink water, limit coffee, tea, juice, and anything else with calories.
  • NO sodas
  • NO fast food
  • NO sweets that are purchased pre-made {this includes ice cream, brownies, cookies, etc...}, but we can have anything we cook at home {such as a cake, pie, or cookies made from scratch}
  • Prepare healthy meals at home and take left-overs or other prepared meals to work
  • Get back into my routine {and try to pull Lee into it} of running 10-15 miles per week
  • Complete a 10k before the end of May
  • Donate clothes that are too big to Goodwill, or sell them at thrift stores
  • Take an honest look at myself every Sunday {meaning weigh myself and try on the same pair of pants to see where I'm at...I obviously have no perception as previously stated}

Lee and I haven't had fast food or sodas since the beginning of the year. We're both always thirsty, so drinking tons of water has been no problem at all. We did stop at DQ with my parents {the Hawaiian Blizzard was calling my name} but that has been our only purchased dessert. We were both sick, but I ran 3 miles today {what a beating} and Lee is going to start coming with me once he's feeling better.

I'm even thinking about starting a separate blog to chronicle the whole thing. I'm not great at updating this one, but I'm trying to be better. Here's to trying.....

Private

Kids, I've gone private.  I've been contemplating it for a long time, and although I hate it when my friends make their blogs private, it is a necessity for me at this time.  It is either go private or stop sharing the truth about my life, and well....I'm no liar!  Hopefully I can become un-private in the future.

Thanksgiving, San Diego, Christmas, New Year's Eve, 2010

I haven't updated on a lot that has been happening because it has been quite a bit!  Here's the preview and I'll post more soon!  Shelley is enjoying Japan and planning for our trip there in March.  Nat and I are trying to plan a trip to Colorado so we can visit friends.  Oh, and yes I've gained back a lot of the weight I've lost BUT, am on the path to shrinking again.  It is hard to avoid soft drinks and fast food when you're working so much!  I hope everyone is having a happy and prosperous new year.

Maggie
She wasn't sure about all of the snow.  Check out how deep it was!  My family had Christmas in DFW this year and thankfully, had our first snowy Christmas ever!

Our Home and Lee's truck
You can sort of get a view of the snow on Christmas Eve; the driveway and street aren't just wet, they're solid ice!

Me, Maggie, and Libby
Part of the reason that this post is so delayed: I got sick Christmas day and spent 3 whole days like this : (  Lee and my Mom both caught it and are finally getting over it too.  No fun!

WOW

Christmas was fantastic and crazy and busy and.....wow time has just flown by.  We're trying to upload photos and regroup.  Lee's brothers leave tomorrow and we've had company since Christmas Eve.  We wouldn't have it any other way; it was so much fun to host our families in DFW this year!  It will be a little sad to settle back into the normal routine.  Lee and I both desperately miss the pugs.  We've got to work on expanding our family {with a puppy of course)!

I'll get some pics and details loaded soon, but one quick thing I have to document {since this blog is used a little bit for that}.......ready??

I got an interview with UTHSC - Houston!  I'm excited and terrified at the same time.  Now I just have to figure out what to wear.  I'll post again soon!!
