Ask and Ye Shall Receive

I got an email from my sister a little while ago and I'm in a quirky mood.  It went a little something like this.

Shelley (to me and Natalee): Any ideas of what yall want? I kinda have an idea but Im not sure, let me know if theres something you want...

Me (to Shelley and Natalee):  1.  A Million Dollars  2.  A pony--preferably a girl, but I can make due with a boy  3.  A white Christmas
THANKS!!!

I can't wait to get the response...he he!

Two Years

Today marks two years since my grandpa passed away.  I sometimes forget he's gone and engage in neurotic activities, i.e. not deleting "Neese and Popeye" from my cell phone numbers and just changing it to "Neese."  I can't bring myself to do it and I don't think I'll ever be able to.  To be perfectly honest, I've still got my Great Aunt's number in there too.  Obviously it doesn't bring them back, but I just feel wrong deleting their names.  I guess if that makes me insane I'll just have to live with it.

I am comforted by the fact that one day we will see each other again, but I still wish I could have a long conversation with him every once in a while.  I miss him so much.

I took the NET exam in Houston last weekend.  I think I did well but experienced a sort of profound moment during the exam.  One of the sections is a stress profile.  It measures how much stress you have in your life, how you deal with it, etc...  When asked "have you recently lost a family member or pet?" I didn't think twice about answering "yes."  Then I got to thinking about what exactly qualifies as recently?  I still feel like it was yesterday.  I still cry sometimes; I miss him and I wish I could have become some amazing researcher that found the cure for cancer before he got it.  Does recently have a specific time in hours, days, or years assigned to it or is it relative to your emotions regarding the event?  I contemplated changing my answer, but ended up leaving it.  It was just really thought provoking and actually brought tears to my eyes during the exam.

Congratulations Lee!

I have to brag for just a little bit about my hubby.  Lee works so hard every single day.  He leaves the house before the sun comes up and comes home after it has set.  He even wears a suit and tie all day long {and sometimes makes it home before yanking off the tie}.

Enterprise has this thing called a "grill" for when you get promoted into management.  You have to interview with 5 or 6 different department heads and they grill you on everything about the business.  We're talking questions like... Given an HR situation, what would your response be?  How do we depreciate our fleet (down to all the fine details)?  What does the company look for in a potential employee?  How would you....?  All these questions from 7:15am until about 1pm.  CRAZY!

I am SO thankful that Lee is a hard worker.  It isn't something that I used to pay attention to, but with the economy faltering I definitely value it.  He works so hard and definitely earned this promotion.  I am so proud of him and extremely grateful I was blessed with such a wonderful husband.

Congratulations Lee!!!

NOT Sleeping

Saw Zombieland tonight.

Woke up to alarm blaring @ 1am two weeks ago.  They weren't breaking into our house; they cut the phone line to break into the quik-e-mart instead.  THAT makes me feel so much better!

Had a conversation with Lee about the fact that him running downstairs in boxers is probably scary to some, but not to burglars.

Wake up reciting A&P.  Actually, half wake up.  Sartorious, biceps brachii, brachialis, teres major and minor, vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, vastus intermedius.......clouds, puppies, vacation.....palmaris longus, flexor digiti minimi....that one is cute...{ALARM BLARING}  ugh.

Good news: immersed in interesting material from {dare I say} textbooks, 9 more weeks of 15 hours of classes.  Lee is an angel : )
