I have no idea as to why this is so hilarious to me, but I cry myself to tears when I see this commercial!

Snow in DFW
This is what I woke up to Thursday February 11, 2010. WOW! Lee ran in around 6am to let me know that our road was solid ice and the ground was covered in snow. I jumped out of bed to take a picture since my camera was right next to my bed...and then I crawled back in bed. Hey, I've never claimed to be a morning person!
I had a flight around 1pm so I stayed at the house {it is closer to the airport} and found out while I was on the way to the airport that my office was going to close at noon. I made it to the airport {it took almost an hour instead of the usual 10-15 minutes} and my flight actually took off after sitting on the ground in the de-icing process for 3 hours!

The picture below is what Lee sent to me while I was in Indiana Thursday evening. DFW got over 12 inches of snow and I missed it!! This was record setting...as in DFW has NEVER gotten this much snow before.

I read over some of my recent posts and I'm sounding a little bit negative. I'm not trying to be negative; it is EXTREME exhaustion. I feel like I could sleep for a week! Lee and I have both been working a lot and we can't wait to slow down a little. We go to Japan in 10 days for 10 days! I think that will recharge both of us!

HATING AA
I just found out that American took me off the flight @ 1pm and gave my ticket away even though I had already checked in. Yes, that's right, over an hour before my scheduled departure. I didn't lose my seat because I was late. Someone messed up and I don't appreciate the gate agent not getting me home tonight.
Someone will be receiving a very precisely worded request for a refund.

Travel Woes
You should know about this and this before reading this post.
I realize that the airline's policy is that you need to be in the boarding area at least 30 minutes prior to departure. I get that. I don't fully understand it, but I respect it. I planned to do that for my 2:55 flight. I really did. In fact, I planned on leaving around 1:30 which would have me arriving at the airport around 2:00 at the very latest with 25 minutes to spare.
Well, my favorite airline people in Indiana decided that my flight would depart at 2:10 instead. They called me around 9 this morning and emailed me as well, but let's be honest, I was training agents and NOT checking my email and phone. I raced to the airport as soon as I saw the email and arrived at my gate as the plane was pulling back. The tears welled up, I'm sure my face got red, but I didn't break down and cry; I was even nice to the gate agent. I doubt she made that decision {although if she did, KARMA BABY!} so there is no reason to be rude.
I'm now sitting, stranded, in the Indianapolis airport {again} and hoping to get on the 5:00 flight. I say hoping because the flights for the rest of the day are sold out because of the ridiculous snow storm DFW got yesterday. So if anyone reads this today, please pray that someone misses this flight so I can get on it {isn't that awful} and go home!

Record Breaking Snow

Main Entry: snow Pronunciation: \snō\ Function: noun Usage: often attributive 1 a : precipitation in the form of small white ice crystals formed directly from the water vapor of the air at a temperature of less than 32°F (0°C) b (1) : a descent or shower of snow crystals (2) : a mass of fallen snow crystals2 : something resembling snow: as a : a dessert made of stiffly beaten whites of eggs, sugar, and fruit pulp b : a usually white crystalline substance that condenses from a fluid phase as snow does
Today it snowed in DFW. Correction: It is still snowing in DFW {5 inches and counting}. Lee woke me up this morning and there were already a few inches on the ground. I was SO excited!
I flew to Indianapolis today and there is snow everywhere here too. Somehow it isn't very exciting. I realized that I was so excited about snow because I got to share it with someone I love. I'm not complaining.
I am so thankful that Lee and I are both employed. I just realized that I wasn't really all that thrilled about snow anywhere in the world. I was excited about the possibilities of spending time in the snow with Lee, or my sister and Mom {who are over in Dallas right now}. Funny the things you can learn from a little snow.
Here's to hoping we can make a snowman in our back yard tomorrow after an on-time departure from Indianapolis {read here about how much luck I've had with IND}.

Life is Precious
I mentioned in a previous post that I had a rough day and got some bad news. Part of the reason we went down to Houston last Saturday morning was because my Dad's godson passed away very unexpectedly.
We are really good friends with the family, and although we haven't been able to spend much time together in recent years, the loss of him really kind of tore through me. He was Lee's age and the oldest of 3 brothers as well. My family is friends with his entire family. In fact, when Shelley and Natalee were going to Houston Ballet, we got to spend a lot of time with his Aunt going to plays at the Alley, concerts in Memorial Park, and just having a ton of fun all over Houston. She was at most of our dance recitals, Nutcrackers, and anything else we were involved with. I absolutely hurt for his family and all that they must be going through. I cannot imagine the pain of losing a sibling.
I was looking for a scripture appropriate for them and found this one:
Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.
PSALMS 55.22
At the complete opposite end of the spectrum, I got to visit a friend and her newborn baby Sunday. It is really wonderful how God guides people through life. I thought about my friend ALL day on Wednesday and Thursday. I kept saying little prayers asking God to surround her with his Angels and help her deliver a healthy baby. I found out Sunday how important those prayers were. She and her baby almost lost their lives. Had every little detail not been in place, neither of them would be alive today. While I was looking for above scripture Tuesday, my mind wandered to my friend as a read:
When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You.

I usually don't go into religion much on my blog, but I think everyone can appreciate the experience of loss, birth, and how how truly precious it is that each of us are alive. As my friend told me the story of how her son was born, and I got a little teary eyed. She is such a strong woman and I am proud of her courage in a very trying time; I admire her courage. I told my parents about her story and started balling just re-telling it. I guess the emotion of the weekend was really bottled up inside of me.
By the way, Mamma and baby are doing fantastic, although I am pretty apprehensive about having kids after the experience she had!

Well, the curtains are going back to Pottery Barn tomorrow. I still haven't been able to post a picture, but I PROMISE one is coming. Actually, I thought about keeping them just because they make me laugh so much when I walk in the bedroom. It is really hilarious.
Lee and I were in Houston for the weekend with my parents. We switched hotel rooms around midnight due to the prostitutes and um...how to say it politically correct...scandalous clientele frequenting the facility. Hilton is working on getting us a refund seeing as we went 3 miles East to a different Hilton. It is funny how 3 miles can make such a huge difference in Houston.
I'll post in a bit more about our weekend, but it was all over the place. It has been really difficult for Lee and me to work out more. He's so busy at work and I've started traveling twice a week again. Do we think my lack of weight loss could be water retention from flying twice a week? I hit Nashville, Detroit, Chicago, and Elkhart in the last two weeks and head out to Charlotte and Chicago Thursday and Sunday respectively. I ran 3 miles in the workout room in Elkhart...It was 2 degrees outside, so there wasn't an option of running in the snow. I might have attempted it if it was 15 or so! : )
I'm really excited about being in Chicago; Tricia invited me to a Superbowl party which will undoubtedly be an absolute blast. I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!!
